Hand-dug at Rubyvale in Central Queensland — an outback town about 50 km north-west of Emerald, in the heart of Australia’s Sapphire Gemfields and known the world over for the sapphires mined from the ground beneath it. Cut in-house, here in Australia.
At 8.3 carats this is one of the largest stones we have brought to the wheel, and it has never been heated — every bit of the colour is its own. A parti sapphire carries more than one colour within the single crystal, and this one runs from deep blue through teal and green into a band of warm gold. It changes with the light: dark and inky indoors, then green and gold when the sun catches it. There is exactly one.
