Here is exactly what you get with a stone from us, and exactly what you don’t. We would rather be plain about it than impressive about it.
Every stone is natural, and Australian
We do not sell synthetic, lab-grown, composite or glass-filled material of any kind. Every stone on this site came out of the Queensland gemfields and was cut in Australia. There is no imported rough in our stock.
Treatment — always disclosed
Heat treatment is standard and legitimate across the gemstone trade. It is used to improve colour and clarity, it is permanent, and a heated sapphire is still a natural sapphire dug out of the ground. What matters is that you are told.
Where a stone is unheated, the listing says “no heat” and the specification states it — unheated stones are less common, and priced accordingly. Anything not marked unheated should be assumed heated. Ask us about any particular stone and we will tell you what we know about it.
Independent certification
Independent laboratory certification is available on request for $100, arranged at the time of purchase. This is an independent report, not our own opinion of our own stone.
We are happy to arrange it on any stone, and we would encourage it on the higher-value pieces. If you want a report before you commit, say so and we will talk it through.
What we can tell you about any stone
- Carat weight, and the actual measurements in millimetres
- Cut and shape
- Colour, and for parti stones how the colour is distributed through the crystal
- Where on the gemfields it came from
- Treatment
- In many cases, the episode showing it being dug and cut

If something is not right
Changed your mind on a loose stone? Tell us within 7 days of delivery and we will authorise a return — email us first for a return authorisation, then send it back tracked and insured (return postage is at your cost). Finished jewellery, and custom or modified stones, are not covered by change of mind.
If a stone arrives faulty, damaged in transit or not as described, that is a different thing entirely: send us photos and we will repair, replace or refund. Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
